Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh is scheduled to undergo a medical with Celtic within the next 24 hours, according to manager Martin O’Neill. The Denmark international has been linked with the Scottish champions for several months.
Reports suggest that Celtic has reached an agreement on a club record fee of £11m with the Norwegian team. This potential move follows the recent departure of Daizen Maeda from Celtic Park, who was transferred to Ipswich Town for £10m after a four-year period.
Transfer Progress and Manager’s Comments
O’Neill addressed questions about the deal’s progress after Celtic’s 2-2 draw with AC Milan in a pre-season friendly. He expressed optimism about the transfer, stating, “Yes, I’m hoping that that will happen. I think there’s a good chance of it.”
He further added, “But, until someone’s actually signed and sealed, there might be things still up in the air, but it’s certainly progressing.” When asked specifically about Hogh’s medical, O’Neill confirmed, “Yes, apparently so. He will have one in the next 24 hours, I think.”
The potential arrival of Hogh may alleviate some pressure on Celtic’s board and management following Maeda’s sale. So far this summer, Celtic has made one signing, Camilo Duran, who has scored three goals in three warm-up games.
Celtic has also been linked with Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur. Regarding the possibility of signing the 22-year-old German, O’Neill stated, “That, I genuinely can’t tell you. I genuinely cannot tell you at this minute.” He mentioned being focused on the recent game and needing to assess the situation. O’Neill also indicated that there are “a few other things in the pipeline that might come to fruition.”
Hogh’s Career Trajectory
Hogh’s career began in the youth ranks at Randers. After an injury-affected period, including a loan to Valur in Iceland, he was sold to Hobro, a second-tier club. He then moved to Danish Superliga club AaB in January 2022.
A year later, he transferred to Stabaek, which had recently been promoted to the Norwegian Eliteserien. His career gained momentum there, with Stabaek exercising their purchase option after he scored eight goals in 14 games during his loan spell.
Within three months, Hogh signed a pre-contract agreement with Bodø/Glimt to join them in January 2024. He became Bodø/Glimt’s top scorer with 12 goals as they secured the Norwegian title. His seven goals in the Europa League made him the competition’s joint top scorer, helping the team reach the semi-finals.
In 2025, he was again the club’s top scorer with 17 goals, though Bodø/Glimt finished second, one point behind Viking. In January, Hogh scored two goals in a 3-1 Champions League victory over Manchester City and netted again the following week in a 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid.
He received his first call-up to Denmark’s senior squad in March and made his debut as a late substitute. In his second appearance, he scored Denmark’s equaliser in their World Cup play-off final against the Czech Republic, a match his side ultimately lost in a penalty shoot-out.
