Arsenal have completed the signing of Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United for £75m. The 28-year-old Brazil midfielder has agreed to a four-year contract, with an option for an additional 12 months.

Guimarães departed Newcastle‘s training camp in La Manga, Spain, earlier this week to finalise his transfer to Emirates Stadium following a breakthrough in negotiations. He shared that he received messages from several future teammates, including fellow Brazilian Gabriel and midfielder Declan Rice.
Rice reportedly told Guimarães, following their previous encounters on the pitch, to “come here and please no more fights, now we’re friends.” Guimarães expressed his readiness for this new challenge, stating, “I want to win trophies, I want to make history and I think I’m in the right place to do it. I’m so excited to start.”
Impact and Performance at Newcastle
Guimarães joined Newcastle in January 2022 when the team was facing relegation issues. He played a significant role in the club’s improved performance under former head coach Eddie Howe. The Brazilian became the first captain in seven decades to lift a major domestic trophy.
He was also part of the squad that qualified for the Champions League in 2023. In the most recent Premier League season, Newcastle finished in 12th place. According to one report, Guimarães’s transfer marks the most expensive for a midfielder aged at least 28.
