Manchester City secure Anderson

Manchester City have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for the transfer of midfielder Elliot Anderson. The deal is reported to be for a fee that would represent a club record for Manchester City and make Anderson the most expensive British player ever. Nottingham Forest has granted permission for Anderson to undergo a medical examination.

Anderson is currently with England at the World Cup in the USA, where he has started in two group stage matches. Discussions are ongoing regarding the timing of his medical, considering England‘s upcoming match against Panama in Group L. Personal terms are not anticipated to be an issue.

Anderson’s contract with the Midlands club extends until 2029, and he has been a primary midfield target for Manchester City this summer. He has been noted for his versatility, capable of playing as a single pivot or alongside other midfielders, and is described as an all-action player who can score goals.

Following the potential departure of Anderson, Nottingham Forest is looking to strengthen its midfield. The club aims to sign two central midfielders, having initially planned for one addition. Forest has expressed interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall and Inter Milan‘s Davide Frattesi. They also maintain an interest in Celtic‘s Arne Engels.

Arsenal’s midfield pursuit

Arsenal is actively working to secure new midfield signings. Morgan Rogers is considered a transfer priority, with Aston Villa reportedly seeking a substantial fee for the player. As an alternative, Arsenal has explored a move for Alex Scott.

Bournemouth, however, has declined Arsenal‘s enquiry for Scott, stating that the midfielder is not available for transfer this summer. Bournemouth reportedly plans to extend Scott’s current contract. Other clubs, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea, are also said to be interested in Scott.

In addition to Scott, Arsenal has also explored potential moves for Newcastle duo Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, with Guimaraes seen as a more realistic option. The club is also monitoring West Ham‘s Mateus Fernandes and Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi. Lille is reportedly seeking a significant fee for Bouaddi, with different prices depending on whether a loan-back agreement is included.

Meanwhile, Victor Gyokeres has addressed speculation linking him with a possible swap deal involving Julian Alvarez, stating his contentment at Arsenal. He emphasised his focus on Sweden‘s upcoming World Cup match against France.
