The UK is experiencing a significant drop in temperatures and a shift to wetter conditions after a warm spell. Temperatures in London are expected to peak at 14C on May 6 and will remain below average for this time of year.
As of early Tuesday, daytime highs across the UK are considerably lower than the previous week, when some areas recorded temperatures above 25C. The Met Office warns of likely rain or showers across portions of England and Wales, which could be heavy and locally thundery.
Rainfall is expected to begin on May 7 and continue throughout the week. By the end of the week, heavier showers and possible thunderstorms may develop.
Forecasts indicate that London will see peak temperatures of 16C on May 7, followed by 19C on May 8, and 21C on May 9. However, temperatures will dip again to 18C on May 10, and stabilize around 15C for May 11 and 12.
Some showers may even contain snow over the Scottish mountains, although many areas will remain largely dry.
The Met Office stated, “There are likely to be some rain or showers across portions of England and Wales, which could be heavy and locally thundery.” This reflects the abrupt shift in weather patterns affecting the region.
Chilly air is setting in across the UK as spring weather takes an unexpected turn. The changing conditions have prompted varied reactions from residents who enjoyed last week’s warmth.
