Grealish excluded from City’s Asia tour squad
Jack Grealish has been left out of Manchester City’s 28-man squad for their pre-season tour of Asia. The official reason cited for his exclusion is his ongoing recovery from a foot injury. Maresca’s comments fuel speculation
Enzo Maresca, the new Manchester City manager, has made comments regarding Grealish’s future that have been interpreted as suggesting the player could be available. Maresca stated, “At the moment, he’s here. He’s a Man City player. I always said the same. In any club I join, I like to know if there are players that belong to the club. It’s my duty to try to coach them.”
Maresca further added, “Jack is here. I have a good relation with Jack since I left [as a coach under Pep Guardiola]. Also, we keep in touch, and the reason why is because he has a big heart and he’s a very good guy. So this is the reason why. And then we see what happens.” The phrase “we see what happens” has been seen by some as an indication that Grealish might be available for transfer at the right price.
Grealish’s contract with Manchester City has one year remaining. He joined City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a fee. His previous spell at Everton saw him make seven Premier League appearances for Manchester City in the final five months of the 2024/25 campaign, before moving to Everton on loan in August.
