Scott Parker has left Burnley Football Club after a disappointing season that saw the team relegated from the Premier League. The decision came early Tuesday, following discussions with the club’s board.
Parker led Burnley to promotion to the Premier League in the 2024-25 season, achieving a remarkable 100 points. However, this season proved challenging, with the team winning only four league games and conceding 68 goals—the highest in the league.
Burnley’s relegation was confirmed with four matches remaining in the season. Parker’s tenure included a club record of 30 clean sheets during their promotion campaign, but ultimately, results fell short this year.
Parker expressed pride in his time at Burnley, stating, “It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years.” He thanked the staff and fans for their support.
The club issued a statement thanking Parker for his professionalism and dedication. They acknowledged his contributions during his time at Burnley.
Mike Jackson will take interim charge for the final four games of the season. Meanwhile, Burnley has begun the process of appointing a new permanent head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Craig Bellamy has emerged as a potential candidate for the managerial vacancy. His release clause is reported to be around £700,000.
This marks Parker’s fourth stint in management. Burnley has faced challenges over recent seasons, having yo-yoed between the top two tiers of English football for six successive seasons.
