Richard Osman received an OBE from Princess Anne during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle. Osman expressed pride in being British, even though he felt very nervous during the event.
Osman was honored for his services to literature and broadcasting. He is best known as the author of the best-selling Thursday Murder Club novels and as a former host of the BBC quiz shows Pointless and House of Games.
During the ceremony, Osman described the experience as feeling like “a responsibility more than an honour.” He stated, “I felt very nervous going in there,” highlighting the weight of the occasion.
Alongside Osman, other notable figures were also recognized. Bill Bailey received an MBE for services to entertainment, while chef Marcus Wareing was awarded an MBE for his contributions to culinary arts and broadcasting.
A total of 67 recipients were honored by Princess Anne on this day. Osman shared that meeting the Princess Royal involved a simple protocol: “shake hands, walk back, bow, and walk off.”
This honor comes after Osman stepped down from hosting House of Games in March 2026. He met his wife, Ingrid Oliver, on the set of his show in 2022.
The investiture ceremony marks a significant moment in Osman’s career, reflecting his impact on British culture through television and literature.
