A bomb hoax led to the evacuation of a Peter Kay show in Birmingham on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at the Utilita Arena, approximately 45 minutes into the performance.
West Midlands Police received reports of a suspicious bag left in the venue. As a precaution, officials ordered an immediate evacuation.
Audience members were asked to leave without being informed about the situation. Many initially thought it was part of the show.
One attendee, Steve Aspinall, remarked, “To be honest, I thought it was part of the show at first.” Another attendee, Miranda Richardson, described how quickly the situation escalated—“One minute [Kay’s] on stage and the gig is great, then two of the event team walk on stage straight to him.”
Police conducted searches but found nothing suspicious. The safety and security of customers and staff remained the top priority for the venue.
A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the bomb hoax. Officials have not disclosed further details about his identity or motives.
Ticket holders will be contacted regarding this incident and any potential refunds. The venue aims to ensure safety for all future events.
