Salah’s Next Move: Europe, Saudi Arabia, or MLS?
Mohamed Salah, the 34-year-old former Liverpool forward, is considering his next career move following his departure from the Premier League club. Reports suggest that his financial demands could be a factor for Saudi Pro League clubs, with some reportedly hesitant to meet his terms. Despite this, a move to the Saudi Pro League is currently seen as a strong possibility.
Sources indicate that a deal in principle may already be in place with the Saudi league, though Salah has yet to decide which specific club he would join. Geography is reportedly playing a role in his considerations, with a preference for clubs located in the west of Saudi Arabia due to their proximity to his homeland. However, other options are not being ruled out.
While Salah previously expressed a preference to remain in Europe, this is now considered increasingly unlikely. He is reportedly open to a move to Major League Soccer (MLS), with Sporting Kansas City emerging as a potential suitor. Other MLS clubs, including Inter Miami and San Diego FC, have also been mentioned as possible destinations.

Sporting Kansas City’s Ambitious Summer
Sporting Kansas City is actively pursuing high-profile players this summer, with Mohamed Salah at the top of their list. The club’s new majority owner, Peter Mallouk, whose parents are Egyptian immigrants, is reportedly keen on making significant additions to the squad. While securing Salah is considered a long shot due to strong interest from the Saudi Pro League, Sporting Kansas City is in pole position among MLS clubs should he choose to move across the Atlantic.
In addition to Salah, Sporting Kansas City is also working on potential deals for other players. The club is in talks for Toulouse winger Yann Gboho, 25, and Olympiacos winger Andre Luiz, 24. Negotiations for Luiz are reportedly further along than those for Gboho. Both potential deals are being discussed in a range that could make them among the most expensive in league history.
Gboho, a former France youth international, had a notable season with 10 goals and three assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. Luiz, who joined Olympiakos in January, previously recorded seven goals and six assists during his time with Rio Ave FC. These potential signings reflect Sporting Kansas City’s stated ambition to significantly improve the team.
Other Transfer Speculations Across Europe
Beyond Salah’s situation, several other transfer stories are developing across Europe. Bayern Munich has reportedly informed Real Madrid that France forward Michael Olise, 24, is not available for transfer this summer. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund and Germany attacker Karim Adeyemi, 24, is reportedly set to join Barcelona.
In England, Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly competing for RB Leipzig and Netherlands defender Lutsharel Geertruida, 25, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland. Manchester City and Tottenham are reportedly interested in Portuguese winger Francisco Trincao, 26, from Sporting. Barcelona is also reportedly preparing a bid for Atletico Madrid and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, 26, after this summer’s World Cup.
Further transfer interest includes Hull City’s bid for Mjallby midfielder Elliot Stroud, 24. Manchester United is exploring options for additional midfielders after signing Chelsea and Brazil international Andrey Santos, 22. Greece centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, 28, from relegated West Ham, is attracting interest from multiple Premier League clubs and other European sides. Como is reportedly interested in Colombia defender Davison Sanchez, 30, but could be deterred by Galatasaray’s asking price. Manchester United is also in the market for a goalkeeper to compete with Belgian Senne Lammens, 24, and could consider Paraguay’s Orlando Gill, 26, from San Lorenzo. Newcastle United’s chances of signing England goalkeeper James Trafford, 23, from Manchester City have reportedly increased, though Chelsea is also interested. Lastly, new Benfica boss Marco Silva reportedly wants to sign his former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, 31, from Bayern Munich following his loan at Tottenham last season.
