Vodafone has acquired VodafoneThree for £4.3 billion, making it the UK’s largest mobile operator. The deal aims to enhance 5G networks and achieve significant cost efficiencies.

The merger values VodafoneThree at £13.85 billion, including debts. Vodafone plans to secure around £700 million in annual cost efficiencies by 2030.

Since merging with Three UK earlier this year, Vodafone has focused on maximizing the potential of VodafoneThree. The company is also rolling out one of Europe’s most advanced 5G networks.

The average Brit sends 110 different types of messages daily, indicating a strong demand for enhanced mobile engagement. In Birmingham, residents make an average of 27 calls a day, compared to a national average of 15.

Londoners lead in text messaging, sending an average of 38 messages per day—8 more than the UK average. This growing reliance on mobile apps and text messaging underscores the importance of robust mobile networks.

Margherita Della Valle stated, “A year on from the merger, the team has made remarkable progress as we maximize the full potential of VodafoneThree and capture significant synergies.” This sentiment highlights the strategic focus behind the acquisition.

Frank Sixt and Dominic Lai described the transaction as a win-win for both groups and partners involved. They aim to leverage this acquisition to better serve customers across the UK.
