Johannes Radebe confirmed he will return for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing. This announcement comes amid significant departures of other professional dancers, including Gorka Márquez.
Radebe joined the South African version of Strictly in 2014 and made his debut on the British show in 2018. He made history in 2021 as part of the first all-male competitive dancing couple on Strictly, partnering with John Whaite.
Currently, Radebe stars as Lola in the 2026 production of Kinky Boots at the London Coliseum. He stated, “I live at the Coliseum while I’m in Kinky Boots.” This role showcases his versatility beyond competitive dancing.
Several dancers have announced their exits ahead of the upcoming 24th season. Gorka Márquez, who spent ten years on the show, is among those leaving. The reasons for these departures remain unclear.
Radebe was born in Sasolburg, South Africa, in April 1987. He began dancing at age seven and faced homophobic bullying during his school years. He has spoken openly about this experience, stating, “I loathed my father and I hated alcohol for a long time.” This background has shaped his resilience and artistry.
The dance community is watching closely as Radebe returns to Strictly. His past performances have garnered acclaim and inspired many. The impact of recent departures on the show’s dynamics is still uncertain.
