Jet2 has responded to passenger concerns about summer holidays amid jet fuel shortages.
As of early Tuesday, the head of the International Energy Agency warned that Europe has only six weeks’ worth of jet fuel remaining due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Jet2 assured passengers that all flights are planned to go ahead as normal unless changes need to be made. “Hi, all flights are planned to go ahead as normal. If anything were to change regarding your booking, we would be sure to reach out to you directly to make you aware,” the airline stated.
However, concerns have been raised about potential flight cancellations due to these shortages. Fatih Birol cautioned that cancellations could occur soon if oil supplies continue to be restricted by the Iran war.
Meanwhile, EasyJet’s CEO indicated that there are no immediate concerns regarding fuel supplies for the next three to four weeks.
Passengers have expressed their worries on social media about their upcoming holidays. Jet2 has been alerting customers about fake social media profiles attempting to deceive passengers.
In a notable update, passengers have been notified that holiday documentation will now arrive 14 days before departure instead of the previously scheduled 28 days.
Jet2 confirmed they will reach out directly to passengers if there are any changes regarding their bookings.
