Brittany Ferries has reported a 37% increase in reservations for July and August.

As of early Tuesday, the company assured customers there will be no fuel shortages or price hikes for 2026.

CEO Christophe Mathieu stated, “Today we make a clear promise to customers. There will be no further rises in the weeks or months ahead.” This comes as many travelers prepare for the busy summer season.

In a tragic historical context, the ferry industry has faced scrutiny following the 2012 collision between Lamma IV and Sea Smooth. Thirty of the 124 occupants on Lamma IV were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The families of victims from this incident are currently seeking a judicial review of the coroner’s findings, claiming irrationality in the conclusions drawn.

Meanwhile, Balearia is progressing with its dual-fuel fast ferry, Mercedes Pinto. This vessel is expected to be delivered in May and can carry 1,200 passengers and 425 vehicles.

Balearia aims to align with environmental standards by reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. The Mercedes Pinto supports this strategy.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding further developments in both Brittany Ferries’ assurances and Balearia’s sea trials.

As observers watch closely, the ferry industry continues to evolve amidst challenges and commitments to sustainability.
