Davey Todd, a nine-time North West 200 winner, has been ruled out of this year’s race due to injuries sustained in a crash at the Daytona 200. He worked hard to recover in time but was deemed unfit.

Todd suffered multiple injuries in the Daytona crash. These included a broken femur, tibia, foot, and nose. He underwent surgery in the USA shortly after the incident.

After surgery, Todd completed an intensive six-week recovery program at the Formula Medicine clinic in Italy. He returned to riding for the first time at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.

Despite feeling strong and healthy during tests, Todd expressed disappointment at being ruled out. “I’m gutted, I’m confused. I worked so hard over the last weeks to get fit and to come back and race in front of the fans here at the North West,” he said.

Mervyn Whyte, event organizer, stated, “We are very disappointed that Davey will not be on the grid this year.” The Chief Medical Officer assessed Todd and found him unfit for participation.

Todd’s teammate Peter Hickman had earlier indicated optimism about his recovery. However, the mechanical failure that led to Todd’s crash has overshadowed those hopes.

In total, Todd has won the North West 200 nine times, including a treble in 2025. His absence will be felt by fans and competitors alike as he misses this prestigious event.
