Liverpool’s Transfer Stance
Liverpool are reportedly prepared to discontinue discussions regarding a potential transfer for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. Negotiations between the clubs have been ongoing, but an agreement does not appear to be imminent. According to one report, PSG has set an asking price for Barcola at approximately £145million.
With the transfer deadline approaching in less than three weeks, Liverpool is said to be ready to explore other options to strengthen Andoni Iraola’s squad. Among the alternative targets mentioned is Ibrahim Mbaye, an 18-year-old teammate of Barcola at PSG.
The club’s willingness to consider other players could potentially open the door for Arsenal. The Gunners are still seeking a significant signing after Vinicius Junior reportedly chose to extend his contract with Real Madrid instead of moving to Arsenal.
Arsenal’s Continued Interest
Arsenal is reportedly interested in the French international, despite having already acquired Christos Tzolis for the left flank. The Gunners are believed to be observing the situation closely to see if Liverpool withdraws from negotiations, which could then provide Arsenal with an opportunity to make a bid.
Mikel Arteta has previously indicated that Arsenal intends to make further additions this summer. He stated that the club is actively looking for the right player in the market to enhance the squad’s capabilities.
The Gunners recently secured Bruno Guimaraes for £75m. However, Arteta is now understood to be focusing on strengthening the team’s forward options.
Barcola’s Valuation and Market Dynamics
Liverpool has not yet shown signs of meeting PSG’s valuation for Bradley Barcola, which is reported to be between £130million and £145m. The transfer market has seen significant fees this summer, with some players moving for substantial amounts.
Barcola has experience at a high level, having participated in two Champions League finals and won several Ligue Un titles. Despite this, some believe there should be a limit to the transfer fee, especially considering other areas of the squad that may require future investment.
