Early Tuesday, TUI confirmed that it will not add fuel surcharges to holiday prices. This announcement follows similar commitments from easyJet and Jet2.

Jet2 has removed the surcharge provision across all flights and holidays. EasyJet has also stated that it will not introduce surcharges on its flights or package holidays.

Neil Swanson, Managing Director at TUI UK&I, emphasized customer confidence. He stated, “We understand that customers want both confidence and clarity when booking a holiday.” This reassurance comes as the UK government issued a statement regarding the ongoing jet fuel shortages.

Approximately 75% of Europe’s jet fuel supply originates from the Middle East. As tensions rise due to the Iran war, airlines are under pressure to manage costs effectively.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, noted that holidaymakers deserve peace of mind. He said, “Holidaymakers should have every right to book their hard-earned break in the sun, without worrying about being hit with additional costs.” Meanwhile, Garry Wilson, CEO of easyJet holidays, acknowledged potential customer concerns about travel plans this summer.

As of midday Tuesday, no timeline has been shared regarding how long these guarantees will last. Observers remain cautious about the impact of global events on air travel.

The commitment from these airlines aims to alleviate fears of flight cancellations and unexpected charges during peak travel seasons.
