Pokémon Champions is intended to be the new flagship platform for competitive Pokémon play, replacing the mainline games at major events. This ambitious title aims to reshape how players engage with the Pokémon universe, offering a fresh approach to battles and connectivity.
In a significant development, The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon Champions will be released for the Nintendo Switch on April 8, 2026. This free-to-start battle game will not only support Pokémon HOME connectivity but also allow players to bring in qualifying Pokémon from previous games and Pokémon GO, enhancing the competitive experience.
Among the exciting features, players can look forward to the introduction of Mega Evolutions, including Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar, and Mega Feraligatr. Mega Meganium will introduce the Ability Mega Sol, enabling it to use its moves as if the weather were harsh sunlight. Meanwhile, Mega Emboar’s Mold Breaker will allow it to ignore opposing Abilities when using moves, providing a strategic edge in battles.
Additionally, Mega Feraligatr’s new Ability Dragonize will convert its Normal-type moves into Dragon-type moves and boost their power by 20%. These new abilities are expected to add depth and variety to battle strategies, making Pokémon Champions a must-play for competitive gamers.
On launch day, a Pokémon Champions + Starter Pack bundle will be available, which includes 50 additional Pokémon storage slots, a battle song, and 30 Teammate Tickets and 50 Training Tickets. This bundle is designed to give players a head start in their competitive journey.
