In a series of exciting developments at Lakeside, the upcoming Q1 Lakeside races are generating buzz, with MERCEDES BELLE emerging as a top contender despite a challenging wide draw. The event is set to take place soon, and racing enthusiasts are eager to see how the horses perform.
Recent performances have shown promise, with PASS THE PEPPA placing last at Q1 Lakeside but having previously secured two placements in three attempts at the track. FORGE AHEAD, with two placings from nine runs this preparation, finished fifth last start, while SWEET TILLY, who won earlier this season at Q1 Lakeside, faced a setback, finishing 14 lengths off the winner in the last race.
Beyond the racing scene, Lakeside is also home to Red Top Mountain State Park, which features the sandy and kid-friendly beach known as Lakeside Cove. This park is just a 42-mile drive from the city, making it an accessible getaway for families and outdoor enthusiasts.
The Lakeside Trail at Red Top Mountain State Park offers stunning views of Lake Allatoona and is just under one mile long, perfect for a leisurely hike. Visitors have praised the park, with one stating, “Such a beautiful park to swim, paddle board, or float. The dogs loved the water, too.” Camping sites are available for just $23 a night, while cabins and rooms at the lodge range from $70 to $130.
Looking ahead, the highly anticipated Lakeside Social is scheduled to open in early June 2026. This new venue will feature a waterfront bar and a curated food vendor park, aiming to create a casual gathering place for both residents and visitors. Daniel Todd, involved in the project, expressed the vision: “We wanted to create something that feels like a backyard on the water; a place the community can truly call their own.”
As these developments unfold, the community is abuzz with excitement, eagerly anticipating the new attractions and events that Lakeside has to offer. The combination of competitive racing and recreational opportunities is set to make Lakeside a vibrant destination in the coming years.
