“I’ve never been to South Africa before and when they asked me if I’d like to take part, I thought ‘perfect, lets go’,” said David Haye, the former champion boxer, as he prepares for his return to the reality show I’m A Celebrity.
Haye, who previously finished third in the 2012 season, is set to re-enter the jungle for the South Africa edition. At 45 years old, he reflects on his past experience, stating, “This time around, I felt a lot more – maybe I’m a bit older – but I seemed a lot more relaxed.”
Known for his illustrious boxing career, Haye became the world unified cruiserweight champion and held multiple titles before retiring in 2018. His journey in the jungle is expected to be different this time, as he embraces the challenges ahead.
In a candid moment, Haye shared, “I really enjoyed the connection with mother nature. Chuck a bunch of cockroaches or spiders over me, I am pretty sure I will be fine.” His enthusiasm for the experience highlights his adventurous spirit.
Haye’s personal life has also been in the spotlight, particularly his romantic involvement with actress Helen Flanagan throughout 2023, which ended in December. Flanagan has since dismissed rumors of a ‘throuple’ involving Haye and Sian Osborne.
As he steps back into the jungle, Haye looks forward to the isolation from the outside world. “In the jungle, you don’t know what is going on in the outside world and your new world is in there with these random people you don’t know,” he explained.
With his return to I’m A Celebrity, fans are eager to see how Haye navigates the challenges of the show while reconnecting with nature and his fellow contestants.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full cast and specific challenges for this season, but Haye’s participation is already generating excitement among viewers.
