A serious incident occurred on Newmarket Road in Cambridge early this morning, resulting in a collision between a car and an e-bike. Emergency services were alerted to the scene at 00:20 GMT, where they found two individuals requiring immediate medical attention.

According to reports, a 31-year-old man riding the e-bike suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. A 34-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, sustained serious injuries but is currently in stable condition.

The driver of the car, identified as a Seat Leon, failed to stop at the scene of the crash. Following the incident, police arrested three individuals on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

As a result of the collision, roads in the center of Cambridge have been closed to both vehicles and pedestrians, leading to significant traffic disruptions. Police have advised the public to avoid the area, with closures extending on Newmarket Road to Elizabeth Way, Coldhams Lane, and River Lane.

At approximately 2:00 AM, police made the arrests related to the incident, further complicating the situation as they continue their investigation.
